Emergency First Aid at Work 

To Achieve the Award at Level 2 the learner must achieve the following learning outcomes;

  • Understand the role and responsibilities of a first aider
  • Be able to assess an incident
  • Manage an unresponsive casualty who is breathing
  • Manage an unresponsive casualty who is not breathing normally
  • Recognise and assist a casualty who is choking
  • Manage a casualty with external bleeding
  • Manage a casualty who is in shock
  • Manage a casualty with a minor injury

Content 

This practical, hands on course provides colleagues with the in depth knowledge of First Aid Emergencies using real life scenarios. This course will enable them to demonstrate an understanding of the requirements and knowledge necessary to carry out the role and responsibilities of a First Aider.

Course Outline

  • Introduction and Explanation
  • First Aid Health and Safety Regulations
  • How to manage incidents calmly and safely
  • Examinations of a casualty and further actions/treatments
  • Treatment of unconsciousness, bleeding, burns and scalds
  • How to deal with heart attacks
  • Knowledge of basic life support – CPR
  • First aid kits and dressings

This course is delivered by fully qualified, vocationally competent trainers who in addition to their expertise and experience have assessor and teaching qualifications such as the A1, V1, PTTLS

  • Qualification valid for three years at the end of which learners should undertake a qualification programme.
